Winning the Battle

Have you ever been fearful of taking something on that scares you? A new job, relationship, or even health battle can come with challenges that we must face. There are many things that we pull back from and say, “I can’t do this again.”

When we avoid things that we are afraid of, that fear builds up inside until it overwhelms us— an excuse to give up and stop fighting. But God encourages us to hold fast to our faith. We have won these battles before with God by our side— and He will never leave us alone to fight.

I think back to getting this job and all of the battles that came with it. The fear that I wasn’t good enough, the anxiety of forming new relationships, and the panic that came with speaking in front of large groups. If I had given up, all of these things would have held me back from growing in my job and in my relationship with Christ. As I faced these battles, I felt God with me every step of the way. I felt His peace when I spoke, His wisdom in the everyday decisions, and His grace in forming relationships. He encouraged me when I faced these challenges, and I overcame the fear. Now, when I face those challenges again, I can say that I faced them once already, and I won. Let’s beat this challenge again.

Once we overcome these fears, we can say that we won the battle. And the next time we face them, it will be easier. The Lord will never give us more than we can handle with Him. He is our strength, and courage— and He will always overcome.
