The Use of a Chair
Have you ever really questioned the use of a chair? You use it to sit, to rest, to work, and maybe, not wisely, to stand on. A chair is not limited to age but can be limited by number. What do you do if you are in a room without a chair?
We have been blessed in Briarwood that this is the case. Children will sit on the same chair to come and listen to the Gospel! These kids, who spend the whole day in school, come to sit and listen to our leaders share Jesus with them. They are even taking their Bibles to school with them to read during their free time. Over 30 kids come each week and sit heart to heart to make room. They are given a bible, a journal, and a pen to write down what they learn or ask questions. The questions they ask are proof that they are hearing, not just listening to the lessons-- With open hearts searching for God’s love. Our leaders give them spiritual and physical nourishment every week through deep conversations and meals.
God is moving in this room with these wonderful children as they grow in their faith together! They began with Genesis- In the Beginning God created. They are ending this summer with a study in Revelation 21:3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God."
There will certainly be enough chairs in heaven. But down here, God doesn’t use chairs-- He uses people.
