It Only Take 3 Seconds
365.25 days in a year
8,766 hours in a year
525,960 minutes in a year
If I am being honest, 8,766 hours seems like it is a really small number. In a year, we only have 8,766 hours to spend doing things we love. We spend an average of 2,000 of those hours sleeping! Leaving us with 6,766 hours. Most of that time could be spent at work, or running errands, or things that we just subconsciously do that are a part of everyday life. Maybe we spend an hour a day on social media or watching the news. We would spend almost 400 hours a year doing that!
How long do we take every day to pray or think about God? If we sat and prayed for 30 minutes a day instead of being swept up in the news or social media, at the end of the year, we will have taken 200 hours and used it for God. This could be split up into six 5-minute sessions or longer sessions. This is the start of creating small habits. Volunteering somewhere for an hour a week will be 52 hours of serving God. Or cooking dinner for someone you love for a half an hour 3 times a week will give you 78 hours of showing a simple act of love.
It may seem like a small gesture that doesn’t mean much, but it can be just as impactful as a huge, time-consuming show when it adds up. We can take these small gestures into our world and show the people around us the grace of God’s love by doing small, impactful gestures. It only takes 3 seconds to say I Love You. Use it generously!
