Firmly Planted
Bethany Cyphert
This past Sunday, we celebrated with our Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast. We could not do ministry without you, and we are so grateful to work beside you to build God’s Kingdom. The theme “Firmly Planted” has been on my mind for years. This was the first theme I came up with, and God used my love for trees (and oranges) to bring this idea to mind.
Jesus gave us the foundation of the Church— Him. He is the soil, the nutrients, and the truth. As trees grow, their roots grow deeper into the ground, creating stability and strength. The more time we spend with God, growing and deepening our relationship, the more stable we will be when storms or high winds threaten to knock us down. God is our truth and strength, and firmly planting yourself within His protection will give you peace.
We, as people, make up the church, not the building or structure. Though many parts, we form one whole to find the lost and act in love. As long as we stay firmly planted in God, we can grow and produce fruit. Be firmly planted together and grow to reach others.
Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.
Psalm 1:1-3
