Eyes to See
Do you ever stop for a moment and pray, “God give me eyes to see what Your plan is”? Sometimes we get so wrapped up in praying for what we want, or what we think we want, that we forget to ask what His will is. I feel the weight of that often. I only see my way as the way I want my life to go, and I struggle to stop and consider that God’s plan is better -- Wrestling with wanting my will and having peace in God’s will.
A friend challenged me with a different perspective. They came to faith later in life and found that when they gave their life to Him, they had a fresh view of what God had been doing in their lives the whole time. God gave them the eyes to see how He protected them during their rebellious years. Even though they pushed Him away, He never abandoned them. He protected them from their own destructive behavior. They thought that they were living without Him. But He never abandoned or gave up on them. He was in control the whole time. They couldn’t see it then, but is obvious now.
God has plans for us that we will never see coming. But He can give us eyes to see the things He has already done. Giving us the strength to trust Him with our lives. God never abandons us in our rebellious behavior. Coming to faith later in life and being able to see His impact on their lives is such a testimony to God’s love and power. They can see it more clearly because they knew a time without hope. We can ask God for eyes to see what He is doing in our lives, too.
How has God provided for you in a time when you thought He was quiet? Share that with someone this week and encourage them to see God in the midst of the shadows.
